        There were many innovations and inventors for textiles during the Industrial Revolution. Such as John Kay who invented the flying shuttle. This was an enhancement to looms. The flying shuttle allowed people to weave more efficiently. Not long after the flying shuttle was invented James Hargreaves invented the Spinning Jenny. This was an improvement of the flying shuttle. The spinning jenny was a hand-powered machine that weaved cotton. One spinning jenny could do the work of nearly eight men in a day. Soon after Richard Arkwright invented the water frame. This machine was powered by water wheels. Arkwright invented this machine to weave cotton more efficiently and this did not require any manpower at all. Arkwright invented the steam powered factory too. This benefited the society because the factories no longer had to be on the riverside. Later Samuel Crompton invented the spinning mule. This invention joined the water frame and the spinning jenny; the invention also helped give a better control to the weaving process.
